Sol Defender Update
A few things have changed regarding Slope Games in general and Sol Defender specifically. Besides wrestling with the bureaucracy involved in signing up to university, my personal life has also been difficult recently. Hopefully this goes some way toward explaining why there haven’t been any monthly posts for a while.
Sol Defender Announcement
One of the two concepts referenced in the previous post has now been chosen for the upcoming project. The next step will be to build a small functional prototype to test and experiment with some of the concept’s basic ideas. This will hopefully get done in time for the next monthly post.
C/C++ Update and More
For the upcoming project, a possible switch from C to C++ is being considered. Don’t worry, single-file libraries will continue to be released in C whenever possible. Since C is (mostly) a subset of C++, any such libraries will be usable in both C and C++ applications.
Practical Considerations
The previous post briefly mentioned “other Slope Games considerations”, which are discussed in detail in this one. As a result of these considerations, Cardboard RPG has been cancelled and the final version published on the demos page for download.
Cardboard RPG Sound
Cardboard RPG now has sound along with corresponding configuration parameters for volume and music. At the moment the sound system is more of a proof of concept, hence there are only two sounds: One is the looping background music, the other a simple positional sound for the beetles.
